Experimental Penguins
In 2001 there was a game called Experimental Penguins.It was made by Rocketsnail Games and you could play it at rocketsnail.com. You could be a red,green,black or blue penguin and chat with other players.It stayed up for about a year and was then shut down.
Penguin Chat 3
Penguin Chat 1 and 2 weren’t very popular so I’ll skip ahead to Penguin Chat 3. Penguin Chat 3 was, actually,very similar to Club Penguin. The major difference was that the only rooms were the Town Center,Coffee Shop,Night Club and Boiler Room. The Coffee Shop was nearly identical to the one in CP. The only differences were that there was no upper level and you couldn’t play Bean Counter. The Night Club was also pretty similar. The differences were 1)Like the Coffee Shop there was no upper level. 2) There were disco balls hanging from the ceiling.3)Instead of the turntable and speakers the Penguin Band was on the stage.4)There dance floor was more colorful.5) There was no green puffle.The only differences with the Town Center was that it was always snowing and there were no paths to the Dock or Snow Forts.The Boiler Room was the same but with a lot of grayness.The Gift Shop was there but if you tried to walk into it you would be taken to a page on the Rsnail website where you could buy real life T-shirts,keychains etc.

Club Penguin Beta
In 2005 The Rocketsnail Team announced that they were developing a new game called Club Penguin. Shortly afterwards Penguin Chat 3 was disabled.In October of 2005 the beta version of Club Penguin was put out.The Club Penguin Team encouraged penguins to test the beta and report any bugs so they could be fixed.On October,24th 2005 for a few hours a Beta Test Party was held to thank everyone who tested the beta.Beta Testers received 2000 coins and one month of free membership.They were also able to get the rarest item ever : the pink and yellow Beta Test Hat.Back then there was no Snow Fort,Cove,Forest,Plaza,Beach,Mine Shack,Cave or Boiler Room.Some Beta Testers are : phat fano,navypenguin,JaMeS,Tyler1993 and R U sleepy.
